What got me started on my fitness journey? Well, I have always been on that journey since my early 20’s. I dipped in and out of it through the years, focusing on career, having kids. But to be honest, smoking brought me back to it on a whole new level. Being an ectomorph, staying slim and toned has always been easy for me. I used to eat to try to gain weight, believe it or not. But when I quit smoking, I was in my 40’s and perimenopausal….my metabolism was tanking. I went from a size 3 to a size 10 in about a month or two. I was devastated! Nothing fit me! I just blew up from 113 pounds to 154 pounds.
In this picture, I was a size 8 at 140 pounds at 5’4″. It took me a couple years to get this this point from a size 10 at 150lbs. Why? Because I was doing all the wrong things.
Now I know what you’re thinking…”you have got to be kidding me? A size 8 or 10 is all?” But it really affected how I felt about myself for the first time ever. I really started taking fitness seriously and after about 7 years, I’m almost to where I want to be.
This picture is from last week. I’m holding steady at 134lbs, size 2. I still have that stinkin’ belly, so common with menopause. Ugghhh.
Which leads me to my future posts. I am going to share with you all the things I have been doing and currently are doing. My main goal is to inspire you to achieve your best fitness, whatever that may be. My goal was to look good naked. Yours might be to run a 5k or fit back into your wedding dress. Whatever your goals are, I hope that I can inspire you with my hard work inspires and maybe what I do to get there will help you to get there. I will share work out routines, diets, supplements, everything I am doing to try to get a fitness model body at the age of 52.
Remember, I wasn’t like the above pictures 7 years ago. If I can do it, you can do it. It just takes dedication, determination and hard work!
